Best Fishes To You!

Hi and welcome back to my blog for a different kind of card from me today!
This card is for a contest at the local Stamp Convention here in AZ on November 3.
All the cards will be donated afterwards...so it is for a good cause. :)
The theme is "under the sea" so this is what I came up with for my thoughts about under the sea.
This is the smallest card I have ever made, it is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.
I chatted with some of my girlfriends who make cards and I guess this is a normal size....but for me it seems tiny? lol

I embossed the teal and blue cardstock and even decided to go with some quilling for the plants.
The kraft cardstock is torn to appear to look like the sand of the bottom of the ocean.
So my son tells me there are no beta fish in the ocean or sea...thanks son....I chose this image and colored it with yellow stickles because it was a pretty fish... :)

I added clear buttons and tiny pearls to represent bubbles. Also the title I found online...I thought it was really cute. The tiny seashell I colored with copic markers and added diamond glaze with more pearls.
I really am hoping that this little card might be one of the 4 winners at the convention and I can win some $$ for shopping....like I really need to do that! lol
Wish me luck!

Raffia Flowers

I just love Prima flowers and once again this is a flower tutorial inspired by the new Dew Raffia Collection by Prima. They are new releases in April and some are out of stock already! Mine are not as elegant, but they are very economical and super fast to make. In addition, you can make them any size and color you desire!
This tutorial was originally made for Pammy's Ideas for Scrapbookers on May 16th, 2011....Im a little late in putting it in my own blog....lol...if you get the chance stop by her blog for so many great ideas and tutorial from all of her contributors
Here is the instructions to these easy Raffia Flowers: First you need the supplies: 3 quilling strips or 1/8 strips cut from cardstock, ¾ inch darker paper from strips, Scissors, Glue, Rhinestone, Pearl stickles in White, Ruler
First cut your strips every 2 inches…which should be a total of 18 pieces.
Second, using a dab of glue, layer the strips on top of each other in a criss cross pattern.

Once you have layered all the pieces, flip it over to use the bottom….Its ok if you see left over glue in the center. It will be covered with the darker circle. ☺

Lastly, glue down ¾ inch circle, rhinestone and add stickles in a circle around the rhinestone.
Here is the finished flower…takes about 10 minutes to make!
Enjoy!

Cherish Every Moment...

This lo was inspired by another scrapper PennyLane @ scrapbook.com...thank you! I loved the 4 photos and the two circles with a break in the middle. Instead of using paper in the center, I used paper on the sides and distressed it in the middle. I also stamped a brick wall on the background. Then using my favorite masks from prima I inked on the blue paper. For the circles I used 2 doilies and I made a tissue flower in white (tutorial soon). The butterfly is the last of the set, so I wanted to use it up. The birdcage, the white rose and white pearls are from my leftovers from SCRAP THAT! Also I used some quilling paper for the bottom swirls.
These are photos of Roxy when she went to Prom and instead of individual lo's this 4 photo inspiration was perfect!
TFL!

Naughty Or Nice?

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day!
Im trying to get into the holiday mode. So I started this layout yesterday and finished it this morning. It is my daughter from last year...she looks a bit Naughty to me???? lol
Actually, she has been a really good young lady or the past year and well, as many of us have older teenage girls know that that is not always the case!

I used some items that I bought last year and finally am getting around to using them. I also have been using my Heartfelt Creations stamps lately. If you don't own of them you definitely have to get them. I absolutely love them and so will you.
I also have been on a faux "dusty attic" kick. So I made this frame using a similar design and I added the hollies instead of the regular leaves. That is the best part of making your own embellishments...you can make them any size, color or add/delete whatever you want. Im really all for making your own embellishments to save some on your scrapbooking supplies, since we all know how we want EVERYTHING!
So here is the question? have you been NAUGHTY or NICE this year?

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!
This year I am thankful for many things...but when it comes to scrapbooking I am thankful to my daughter who always takes great photos and makes my scrapbooking fun and much easier to do. This layout is all about how I wanted to thank her for it.
I made the faux "dusty attic" clock recently and so I made a matching frame with the same basic technique.
First, I cut a frame out with my George cricut cartridge. It is the rectangle using the silhouette option. then with quilling papers making the swirls and again with cricut storybook adding the leaves. Pretty easy and it matches the clock perfectly!

Faux "Dusty Attic" Clock

I don’t own of these gorgeous “dusty attic” chipboard pieces. Plan on getting some at the next convention! Meanwhile, I just love the delicate, intricate artwork, which is my inspiration to make my own. Here is how to make the “dusty attic” clock out of paper!

It looks much harder than it is…however, the pieces are small and delicate so be careful not to tear it while gluing the pieces together. Once it is dried, much easier to handle….

Here is the real “dusty attic” chipboard clock…my inspiration…

Here is the the faux chipboard clock....out of paper…

First you need these products: kraft cardstock, quilling paper, quilling tool, glue, cricut (storybook cartridge) black ink, brad, and a clock stamp.

If you don’t have quilling paper make very this strips with cardstock, I think its 1/8 of an inch. If you don’t have a cricut you can use small punches and if you don’t own any clock stamps there are plenty of clocks on clipart that you can print up on your cardstock.

Second, make swirls with your quilled paper (cut the quilled paper in 2 pieces) in any design you like to surround the circle clock and glue together. Make some in the same direction and others in the opposite direction.

Then using a 2inch circle in kraft paper stamp a clock on it.

Next using quilling paper wrap it around the clock so that it will attach easier to the rest of the quilled paper. Place two pop dots behind the clock to give it more of a 3D look and add a brad in the center.

Third, using storybook cricut or punches, make 2 leaves and 4 scrolls ¾ inch big. Place on top of quilled paper and glue down.

That’s it! Now you have your own faux “dusty attic” clocks!

Hope you enjoy!

Faux Envelopes

I recently seen some adorable envelopes from Maya Road-Kraft Collection and I thought I could make them myself by using kraft paper, eyelets, string, and chalk.
It is pretty easy to do...tutorial is below:

This is a High School photo of Roxanne, my lovely daughter, I just love this sepia photo of her. It captures her in her prime of youth. How time flies so quickly....

Here are a few close-ups:

Here is the tutorial for faux envelopes:

First, make two 4.5 inch rectangles from kraft paper.

Next cut one rectangle in a wave pattern with wave scissors and then punch small holes in each scallop. Chalk both pieces all around and place scalloped paper on large rectangle, glue together.

Last, make 3/4 inch circles and add an eyelet in the center. Use pop dots and place on the envelope where ever you want them. Then add string or cord around the circles for a completed envelope look!

Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

Flower Doily Tutorial

I have seen doily flowers made from fabric and paper lace strips.
Since, I don’t have either of those items. I decided to make my own with the regular paper doilies. As you know there are many of the lace paper doilies in a pack so you can make lots of them super cheap!

First, take any size doily you want. You can spray them with tattered angels mist or leave plain, like I did for the example here:
Secondly, you cut down the middle and cut the entire center out.
Next, you fold back and forth till you get to the end and glue it together.
Finally, add another flower with a brad in the center and your doily flower is done.
Here is an example of them on a layout.
Have fun!

Tea Time

These photos were taken for Roxy's photography class this past HS year. Her gf dressed up as alice, roxy's costume and roxy dressed up as the mad hatter...having tea time. She digital played with the colors making them faded with a border. So since they were really green i just kept the lo primary green too.
This is my first attempted with quilling! I have had these quilling papers for a long time but i was always soooo intimidated by all the beautiful artwork out there! So finally i thought i would give it a try....easy to do but a bit more time consuming! I used three different greens for the vine and im pretty happy with the result. I decided to use regular flowers instead of quilled ones (next time)
I started to add the "kitchen sink" and well by it was finally done i thought hum? maybe a bit too much with all the bling....but nevertheless, roxy actually likes one of my lo's??? lol
